Purpose:

This training is designed to empower professionals in the housing industry with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct thorough Quality Control Audits. This training focuses on equipping participants with the expertise required to execute full-circle audits of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) applicant and participant files. By delving into essential components of the auditing process, participants will gain the proficiency needed to assess the adherence to proper procedures in family selection, determine ongoing program eligibility, ensure compliance with HUD regulations and agency policies in landlord screening, and identify and rectify errors related to income calculations, family rent, and Housing Assistance Payments (HAP).

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Navigating Quality Control Auditing training, you should be able to conduct full-circle audits of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) applicant and participants files to:

Determine if proper procedures were used in selecting families from the HCV waiting list and determining continued eligibility of program participants.
Verify if landlord screening and eligibility determinations comply with HUD regulations and agency policies.
Identify and correct income calculation, family rent and Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) errors.
Develop a planned approach for collecting data and reviewing documents for program compliance.
Develop a strategic and planned approach for data collection and document review, fostering a comprehensive understanding of program compliance.
